As you all know [livejournal.com profile] idolizer and I went to the book fair in Leipzig yesterday. It was quite an adventureous journey. Our start was Berlin-Südkreuz and the train was already packed with a lot of cosplayers and other manga fans. We had to sit on the stairs, but at least we could sit. It was wonderful to watch all this otakus fixing the last things on their costumes =D.
We had to change trains at Wittenberg. The train to Leipzig was already waiting and we got lucky to get in. The people coming later really had a problem to get in. We stood at the door for the two hour trip and got some problems with fresh air and things. The people who wanted to take this train on the way to Leipzig mostly couldn't get in, because it was so packed with people. It was awful, but I'm glad it wasn't summer. I'm sure I would have collapsed then.
God, it was so wonderful to breathe fresh air when we finally arrived with delay, so we decided to walk to the fairground. Next task was to get a ticket, but the lines moved fast. Luckily for me I had a voucher for a free ticket, because I participated in a manga contest ^__^.
After all of this was done, we explored the exhibition halls starting with the most interesting, where fantasy, rpg and comic had their place. It was the loudest and fullest hall with all the cosplayers and otakus in it :D. Naruto was really popular, but I saw some FF, Hellsing and other cosplays too. And a lot of girls (and guys) with cat ears and stuff *g*. I couldn't decide where to look first. Didn't take any pictures of them, because they were already a lot of guys photographing them and I wasn't in the mood to line up. The whole thing was like a huge catwalk actually.
After spending a lot of time in there, we went to the other halls. Especially the design and art section was interesting for us. A lot of universities and art schools where there too. I collected a lot of flyers for my design class and bought a magazine made by students. We took a break around noon and went outside to sit in the sun. Grass would have been nice for laying down, but we could get a bench to sit down and eat something. After that we entered Hall 2 again and splitt up. I went straight into the comic corner again in search for the AnimaniA stand, because I wanted to hand in my contest entry in person. And so I did. The one taking it just took a brief look inside and aid it looks quite good. So good for the ego *g*. We had a small, nice chat til I left, because it was so packed at their stand. WISH ME LUCK FOR THE CONTEST!!
I browsed through the market place, took a look at the doujinshi market (too crowded to get in) and left to sit in the glass hall to scribble a bit.
At 4.15 pm we met up again to leave. We planned to stay til they would close, but we already were kind of beat so we took an earlier train home. This one was taking a different route though, so we were NOT home earlier than we had planned in the first place, but the first train was wonderfully empty. We saw the later train arrive already sitting in the one to Berlin and it was so packed with people *urgh*.

Now, here come the pics ^__^

I would do it again, although it's really tiresome. It was a great event.
